Micromax launches Canvas HD, takes on Samsung Grand

NEW DELHI: Micromax today announced the commencement of online sales for A116 Canvas HD, its first phone with a quad-core processor. Priced at Rs 13,990, the phone will be currently sold exclusively over the internet and will entail delivery time of 5-7 working days, starting February 14, 2013.

The all-new Canvas HD features a 5-inch IPS screen with resolution of 1280x720p and runs onAndroid 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, coupled with 1GB RAM. The manufacturer has included 4GB onboard storage in the phone, which supports microSD card expansion up to 32GB.

On the back is an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash, while the front has a 2MP unit. Connectivity features of the phone include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0. Micromax has used a 2,000mAh battery in its newest phablet, Canvas HD.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD will try to lure buyers away from Samsung Galaxy Grand, which has similar features but is priced higher. Other rivals of Canvas HD are Spice Stellar Pinnacle, Karbonn S1 Titanium and Lava Iris 501, which are available at a similar price band
